Responsibilities
Follow the day-to-day operations related to own jobs in the Fire Services Department to ensure continuity of work
Lead the fire unit shift personnel.
Provide technical guidance on work duties and activities.
Conduct audits/inspections/tests to verify the readiness of all fire protection unit equipment/vehicles and firefighting/protection equipment throughout company.
Direct firefighter and Fire truck and pumper operators as necessary to ensure quick response to fire incidents.
Assign firefighters and fire truck operators to regular maintenance schedules such as checking and cleaning fire trucks to ensure a high level of operational readiness. This includes overseeing routine maintenance checks on fire trucks and other firefighting equipment.
Coordinate the inspection programs of all required firefighting equipment, coordinate all functional tests of fire detection/suppression systems, and prepare the required written reports including initial fire/safety emergency reports and other work-related issues encountered during the shift.
Respond to all fire/emergency alarms in expedient/efficient manner and assist Fire Team to implement the correct fire protection/prevention measures as instructed by TL Fire Services
Track defective equipment notifications with equipment owners and ensure equipment is repaired according to priority ratings.
Allocate firemen to attend preventative maintenance on fire equipment by maintenance department daily
Carry out initial assessment of fire threat and possible escalation of hazards to contain any spread of damage to nearby areas.
Communicate by radio with all relevant senior firefighter, Firefighters, and control room operators as first responders to a fire scene, test at the appropriate place to be well prepared for the fire accident as instructed by the team leader.
Instruct security personnel/ fire officers to clear site of civilians and hazardous materials to prevent escalation of fire incident.
Train various personnel on their roles during incidents.
Provide Fire Services Team with recommendations for improving fixed fighting/ protection installations and fire protection/detection equipment for existing, new, and modified facilities.
Qualifications
General Knowledge of industry preferable in Refinery, Petrochemical and Petroleum processes.
Fundamentals of HSSE – Comprehensive knowledge of occupational health & safety. Detailed understanding of general industry standards and the requirements of the more frequently referenced standards
General knowledge of basic health and safety concepts such as hazard and risk assessment, personal protective equipment, Root cause analysis, behavior-based safety, machine/ equipment safety, confined space entry among others.
Knowledge of HSSE Management System.
Knowledge of risk management methods and practices.
Knowledge of HAZOP or similar studies.
Knowledge of Local and International Environmental Standards and regulations.
Ability to prepare, update and draft policies, procedures, and guidelines
Knowledge of NFPA and EN (European) standards for inspection and testing of fire protection systems.
Establishes priorities and works with minimal direction.
