Port Klang Free Zone Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a dedicated Safety, Health & Environment Officer to lead and coordinate all HSE activities within the Port Klang Free Zone, including the management office, free zone facilities and tenants’ premises. The role focuses on ensuring full compliance with Malaysian safety, health and environmental regulations while driving continual improvement of PKFZ’s HSE performance.
Key responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all applicable government and local authority laws, regulations and guidelines relating to safety, health and environment across the workplace, free zone and tenants’ sites.
Advise management and tenants on measures to protect the safety and health of all employees and contractors, and to prevent, control and reduce pollution while enhancing environmental performance
Lead and conduct investigations into accidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences, occupational poisoning and occupational diseases, and prepare formal investigation reports with practical corrective and preventive actions.
Collect, analyse and maintain HSE statistics on incidents and near misses for trend analysis, reporting and continuous improvement.
Ensure and monitor compliance with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Safety and Health Management System requirements.
Plan, organize and implement safety, health and environmental programmes, campaigns, trainings and initiatives within PKFZ facilities.
Prepare and submit JKKP 8 reports online to DOSH via MyKKP before 31 January each year.
Review, check and approve tenants’ requests to handle dangerous goods (DG) within the free zone in line with legal and internal requirements.
Act as liaison officer for PKFZ on all matters related to safety, health and environment with authorities, tenants and other stakeholders.
Oversee overall planning and implementation of environment, occupational safety and health activities and controls at all workplaces under PKFZ.
Inspect workplaces, machinery, plant, equipment, substances and work processes to ensure they are safe and comply with relevant acts, regulations and guidelines.
Support and assist the Safety and Health Committee during inspections and reviews to verify the effectiveness of implemented controls and programmes.
Brief and orient employees and contractors on environmental, health and safety policies, procedures and good practices.
Develop and implement safe waste management and disposal strategies, manage related budgets and ensure adherence to environmental laws and regulations.
Conduct internal environmental system audits and lead external audit activities, including preparing findings, determining corrective and preventive actions and closing out audit nonconformities.
Candidate requirements
Degree or Diploma in Environmental, Safety & Health or a related discipline (other relevant qualifications may be considered).
Strong knowledge of incident reporting processes and current Safety & Health legislation in Malaysia.
Green Book / Yellow Book competency and safety or first aid training; certification as a Safety & Health Officer by NIOSH or another recognised body is an added advantage.
Independent, sharp-minded, with positive attitude and strong team spirit.
Good interpersonal and customer liaison skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with tenants and authorities.
Prior HSE, auditing and environmental planning experience; candidates able to join early may be prioritised for immediate virtual interview and hiring.
Willingness to work on-site in Pulau Indah, Selangor.
